"But there was nothing about the little, low-rambling, more or less identical homes of Northumberland Estates to interest or to haunt, no chance of loot that would be any more than the ordinary, waking-world kind the cops hauled you in for taking; no small immunities, no possibilities for hidden life or otherworldly presence; no trees, secret routes, shortcuts, culverts, thickets that could be made hollow in the middle – everything in the place was right out in the open, everything could be seen at a glance; and behind it, under it, around the corners of its houses and down the safe, gentle curves of its streets, you came back, you kept coming back, to nothing; nothing but the cheerless earth."
Thomas Pynchon, "The Secret Integration"

2. Are you in a relationship? If so, are you happy?
Yes, intensely. I can’t remember being this happy since I was a small child with no worries in the world.
12. What is your favorite thing to do on Valentine’s Day?
I’m used to not doing much… with the only ex-girlfriend I was with during one or more Valentine’s Day we had a rule that neither of us could spend much money or make a big deal out of it, so I’d usually make a mix, she’d make a nice dinner, and we’d spend the night watching Homicide or something (plus sex, duh). I think I’m ready to make a bigger deal out of it, though.
22. What’s your “type”?
I’m not sure I ever had one; if you look at the women I’ve been with (oh, I guess my type includes female, or at least it always has so far) all sorts of things vary. But I like dark hair, I like curves, I like nice necks and shoulders, pretty standard stuff. But maybe I’m construing this too narrowly; I always think of ‘types’ as being physical.
