"But there was nothing about the little, low-rambling, more or less identical homes of Northumberland Estates to interest or to haunt, no chance of loot that would be any more than the ordinary, waking-world kind the cops hauled you in for taking; no small immunities, no possibilities for hidden life or otherworldly presence; no trees, secret routes, shortcuts, culverts, thickets that could be made hollow in the middle – everything in the place was right out in the open, everything could be seen at a glance; and behind it, under it, around the corners of its houses and down the safe, gentle curves of its streets, you came back, you kept coming back, to nothing; nothing but the cheerless earth."
Thomas Pynchon, "The Secret Integration"

10. Has anyone ever asked you out and you turned them down?

Well, I mean, I come from a social context where ‘dating’ (as opposed to ‘hanging out’) doesn’t happen very often. So I’ve never turned anyone down that I know of (my occasional obliviousness might be in play here, though), but I’m also not sure I’ve ever actually been asked out. If I had been, I probably would have said yes (unless the person was really unnerving or something).

19. Are you usually the first person to make a move.

Good lord no. Maybe very occasionally, but the other person has to make it pretty clear that they want me to make a move, you know? If not, then I feel like a total creep making a move, which is part awareness of how many guys are total creeps, and partly just my own issues. Just ask my girlfriend who had to make the first, oh, four or five moves there.

25. Do you think that you’re a good kisser?

Nuanced answer: Well, being a ‘good kisser’ is always ‘being a good kisser of [person x],’ really, and the important thing is to be able to adjust appropriately and kiss the other person the way they want to be kissed and the way you want to kiss them.

Short answer: Hell yes.
